The Quest for Perfect Tone
If you're like me you are on a constant search to improve your tone. As you probably know, great tone is the result of great technique, great gear and lots of practice. I can't improve your technique or help you practice, but what I offer is the culmination of years of experience, live and in the studio. RadicalTone acts as a consulting service for those who seek to improve their guitar tone.
Usually when you think of a consultant, you think of some guru who will charge you through the nose for advice. But what we offer is similar to the guys at Home Depot. When you ask them what parts you need to fix your plumbing, they show you what to get and you decide if you want to buy it. You don't pay them directly for their knowledge or expertise except to buy products from their store. It works the same with us.
I only carry the products I recommend so when you say you are looking for products to help you sound like a certain guitarist, I can make recommendations for you and sell you the tools you need to help get you in the tonal realm you're looking for. But our service doesn't stop once the sale is made... we go one step further and guarantee our recommendation. If the product I send you isn't what you wanted, send it back for a full refund or an exchange for another item. We are not satisfied until you are happy with the products you've purchased from us.
Back in 2004 I was using the best gear I could find in the realm of normal music gear. I had a Marshall JCM 900, a Mesa Boogie MKII B 112 combo (hardwood/wicker) a Soldano, a Mesa Boogie Triaxis and a vintage tube screamer that I bought back around 1979. My tone wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was hoping for. I began searching for the next step in town and landed on Fuchs amplifiers. This was just the beginning. After stepping up to the next level, I ended up selling all my old amps. Now I'm using several Fuchs amp models and 65Amps as well.
I was shocked to find a steady stream of people coming up to me and raving about my new tone. I've had guys come up and ask me what pedal I have turned on to get my guitar to "sound like that" (I didn't have any pedals engaged). A highly respected Nashville drummer told me that my '89 American Standard strat sounded better than any Strat he'd ever heard. Fact is, it doesn't. It sounds like every other Strat, unless it's played through the Fuchs amp.
Fuchs amps are touch sensitive, which means they respond with great dynamics according to the touch of the player. The amp has incredible detail, which makes it very revealing -- for a player with great technique, this is highly desirable.

This may sound odd, but I got a Fuchs ODS last year, sat down with it a couple of times and couldn't relate to the layout....and couldn't find the tone I wanted.
